From muddy paws to spa days: How Enzo’s New Dog Shower Transformed Our Garage
We love seeing how our customers create homes that work for both them and their dogs. For Enzo’s family, that meant transforming their garage into a practical, stylish space with a dog shower at its heart. What started as a way to tackle muddy paws has become a favourite part of their home, with easier clean-ups and a happy cockapoo who’s made the new routine his own.
For five-year-old cockapoo Enzo, a good walk usually involves mud, sand or both. Autumn and winter are his favourite seasons, and the beach is his favourite place to be. His fluffy paws have a talent for bringing a little of every adventure home with him.
That matters when you have the run of the house. Enzo is welcome on the sofas, upstairs and even on the family bed. This is his home too, and his family wouldn’t have it any other way. Keeping their much-loved dog clean, however, used to involve a rather less enjoyable journey to the upstairs bathroom.
Now, an Incredible Dog Shower has helped transform their garage into a practical dog wash space. Muddy walks end with a quick clean-up, a towel dry and a well-earned treat.
Muddy walks, an upstairs bath and 19kg of cockapoo
With carpets throughout the house, the family already knew how important it was to catch the mess early. In December 2025, when Enzo’s owner’s husband ruptured his Achilles tendon and was immobile for a long period, the existing routine became particularly difficult.
After walks, Enzo’s owner would carry all 19kg of him upstairs, run the bath and then clean up the muddy paw prints. It was a lot of work at the end of an otherwise lovely walk.
The clean-up did not end when Enzo stepped out of the bath. There were still the paw prints left along the way to deal with. Having somewhere to wash him before that journey through the house would take a whole stage out of the routine.
The garage offered a chance to do things differently. The family began planning a garage conversion that would bring laundry, storage and dog washing together in one practical space.
“We had a very specific vision: somewhere we could deal with muddy paws and sandy snoots before they came anywhere near the rest of the house.” – Enzo’s family
Turning the garage into Enzo’s dog wash room
The aim was simple: wash Enzo where he comes in from a walk. A dedicated dog washing station would mean he could be rinsed and dried before heading into the carpeted rooms and settling back onto the sofa.
For this family, adding a dog shower in the garage meant making better use of a space that had felt disorganised and uninviting. There would be room for laundry and storage, with a proper place to clean Enzo before he headed into the rest of the house.
Choosing the Explorer, with a finish that felt at home
As a larger cockapoo, Enzo needed enough space to feel comfortable. With room available in the converted garage, the family chose the Explorer Dog Shower. Its size suited both Enzo and their plans for the room.
The finish mattered as well. After considering the options, they chose brushed brass fittings to complement the other modern fixtures. The result was a dog shower that felt part of the room from the start.
Against the room’s grey cabinetry, the white shower and brass fittings give Enzo’s wash area the same considered feel as the rest of the conversion. The family could create a practical place for their dog while giving the garage a look they loved.
Planning the dog shower into the garage conversion
The family found the shower straightforward to install, and its hot and cold water connections fitted into their plans for the converted garage. They also appreciated the flexibility to adjust its height.
For anyone planning a similar garage dog shower, access to hot and cold water and suitable drainage needs to be included in the layout, with installation carried out by a qualified installer. For Enzo’s family, planning the shower as part of the conversion helped it become a natural part of the finished space.
Little details that make washing easier
Once the shower was in place, the family quickly noticed the difference in use. Simple temperature controls made getting ready easy, while the trigger-operated hose let them direct water exactly where it was needed.
That was especially useful for a quick paw rinse. There was no need to keep water running between rinses, and the shower-style trap made it easy to collect and clear away the dirt, mud and sand afterwards.
For a dog who loves the beach as much as Enzo, being able to clear away sand is just as useful as tackling mud. The family can focus the spray around his paws, then clean the shower ready for his next outing.
A new post-walk routine, complete with a treat
The biggest surprise was how often they used it. Originally intended for particularly muddy walks, the indoor dog shower soon became part of Enzo’s everyday routine.
Seeing what rinsed off his paws made the family realise how much dirt had previously been coming into the house. Being able to deal with it straight away made the new routine easy to keep up.
Enzo has settled into it too. He happily jumps into the shower, which his owner describes as the perfect height for him. His paws get a quick wash, followed by a towel dry and, of course, his much-deserved “treato”.
It is a small change to the end of a walk, but one that gives everyone a more comfortable homecoming. Enzo knows what to expect, and his family can get on with enjoying having him around the house.
There is something reassuring about seeing Enzo so comfortable in a space created for him. The wash, towel dry and treat have become a familiar sequence, and he can return to his favourite spots in the house with clean paws.
From an overlooked garage to a favourite room
What was once a disorganised garage now earns its place in everyday family life. It is somewhere for laundry, cleaning and storage, as well as a dedicated dog wash room for Enzo.
The transformation goes beyond having somewhere convenient to rinse muddy paws. The family now has a room they enjoy using, with a shower that complements the space and a dog who seems very happy to make himself at home in it.
The garage now has a clear role in the family’s day, from dealing with the laundry to welcoming Enzo home after a walk. A space that once felt underused has become somewhere they rely on and enjoy spending time in.
